Maybe I\'m too jaded to review this sort of music. Maybe I\'m a snotty prick. Maybe I\'m getting (dare I say it?) older, and this sort of music is just too new for me. Or maybe I\'m just sick and tired of all these So-Cal-style-pop-rock-radio-punk bands! For the love of monkeys, what the hell is going on?!? Someone\'s sleeping in my home! Uh, I mean-- never mind.
Anyway, yeah, Mest\'s new album is everything you\'d expect from this genre. It\'s fast. The lyrics are bellowed out in a heartfelt, nasally punk drone. The drum hits are rapid and precise, and the guitar hooks are tart and punchy. It\'s rebellious youth and all the precious life experiences you could shake a stick at, and then some. It\'s like re-living that magical last week of high school, where you and your wily band of misfit buddies do your damnedest to milk each day for everything it\'s worth. It\'s the background music to that week during your freshman year of college, where you go to lengths to get the popular chick\'s attention, only to realize that, once you\'ve scored said popular chick from her jock boyfriend, the girl you really love ends up being your geeky (yet hot) friend who\'s been coaching you through this popular chick courting process the whole time! Isn\'t that sweet? That\'s the joy that bands like Mest, Good Charlotte, blink-182, Goldfinger, and countless others just like them are bringing to the world today. Yeah, the soundtrack to your life; just like some shitty American Pie sequel, or an episode of Buffy. Doesn\'t that sound great? For more, go to mestcrapp.com.
