Coo-loo-co-co-coo-loo-co-co! How’s it going, eh? I know many of us have already moved to the Great White North after the \"election\" that took place recently, but for those of you who stayed behind, Canada’s finest export-- the McKenzie Brothers-- are still available at your local video store.
Now, don’t make the mistake I did and sit through 12 hours of unwatchable, non-funny episodes of SCTV to get a two-minute glimpse of the funniest comedic duo of all-time. Go straight to the source instead: Strange Brew!!! Strange Brew is the best of both worlds-– a uniter, not a divider. For the intellectual, the McKenzie Brothers full-length film is the story of Hamlet told from the perspective of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. For those uninterested in the works of \"The Bard\", the movie is about beer, hockey, doughnuts, and murder.
Whichever your preference, there is a ton of great stuff in this flick. Whether it’s the opening movie within a movie (\"I was like a one-man army, like Charlton Heston in Omega Man. You ever see it? Beauty....\") or the quotability of almost the entire film (\"If I didn\'t have puke breath, I\'d kiss you.\"). Plus, if there was ever a perfect movie to make a drinking game out of, you can do no better than this. Drink every time someone says \"eh\". (Yeah, it’s well over 200 times. Call an ambulance ahead of time.)
The DVD release also includes The Animated Adventures Of Bob And Doug McKenzie, a glimpse at what could have been the greatest cartoon of all-time. All and all, well worth the $15 for me and my whole family.
