Guy Ritchie, aka “The Guy Doing Madonna,” just wrote and directed this new movie, Snatch. First off, this movie has nothing to do with snatch. In fact, there weren’t even any women in the film! Needless to say, this film was nothing like I thought it would be. Not that I’m a pervert or anything. I just had my heart set on a different kind of movie at the time. With a name like Snatch, one would only expect a skin flick to remember. But this movie didn’t have any of that! It would have been a total rip, if it wasn’t such a great film. That’s right, Snatch is great! I love Snatch! The quick and flashy style of Guy Ritchie’s filmmaking is outstanding. His first film, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, was a groundbreaking film that defiantly paved the way for this second film. However, the story lines are very similar. It doesn’t take away from the enjoyment of the film, but it could become a problem further down the road for Ritchie. In Snatch, a diamond the size of a fist is what every character is after. Twists and turns ensue. Golden Globe winner Benicio Del Toro gives a great performance that is only surpassed by an outstanding performance by Brad Pitt. Pitt plays a Gaelic-speaking gypsy who no one can seem to understand. Brilliantly written and skillfully directed, Snatch is a great roller coaster ride that you’ll never forget.
