No Christmas special quite compares to the stop-motion treat Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Sadly, really good toys based on the movie were never created-- until now. Once again, Playing Mantis, the people who brought you the Peanuts toys, have taken a classic TV show and made some really cool action figures. My favorite of the new collection has to be good old Yukon Cornelius and his dog sled team. This is an amazing set with wonderfully sculpted touches. First, there's Yukon himself. What a cool figure! He has his trademark blue jacket and snow pants, red hat, and yellow earmuffs. All of which are designed to look just like the original. He also has enough accessories to find a gold mine right in your bedroom: a canteen, backpack with removable blanket, shovel, pickaxe, two big sacks, suitcase, guitar, snowshoes, and a knife and hammer that attach to his belt. WOW-WEE! My favorite accessory has to be his bullwhip, which everyone knows he uses to keep his sled team in line. And with that amazing porno-stache, he could really put that baby to use in S&M flicks. Go, Corney, go!
And the sled team is just as wonderfully designed-- five different dogs, each individually sculpted with marvelous detail. You even get a puddle! That’s just friggin' awesome! To complete the set, you get the sled, too. It’s pretty basic, with only one color, but it complements the set very nicely. It even has little ropes to tie down all of Yukon's accessories,.. or very bad gimp slaves. Go, Corney, go!
All in all, it is a gem of a set. And with a price point between $15 and $20, it is a pretty good deal to boot. Even better, as it gets closer to Christmas you can probably find it on clearance.
So why are you still reading this?
