INTERESTED IN WINNING A COPY OF A 10" VERSION OF THE RAVEONETTES', WHIP IT ON? YOU ARE? I THOUGHT SO. WELL, HOP ON OVER TO OUR CONTEST SECTION (LABELED "WIN FREE SHIT"), AND ENTER TO WIN! ISN'T THAT HOT? AREN'T WE NICE?
Did you like the homemade style of Guided by Voices? What about The White Stripes? Did you run out and buy their album because you totally dug the simplistic sounds of a two-piece band? Hells yeah, you say? Well, kidders, ol' Neogeo has found the next step in your music collection for you. The folks over there at Crunchy Frog have hooked up Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo with their own soon-to-be-huge record, Whip It On. These two kids call themselves The Raveonettes, and they rock it out with just a guitar, some drums, and haunting vocals. I'll tell you something I thought of while I was listening to their album for the first time: I remember being underage in a dingy basement bar, listening to local bands rock it the fuck out, and thinking to myself, "Man, this is the real music! This is what gets to me. Why the hell aren't these bands selling millions of records?" Well, now it's all come around. Crunchy Frog came through and put out a great band that will absolutely get under your skin, with seriously catchy songs like "Veronica Fever" and "My Tornado". The same way that Sonic Youth made you feel like you wanted to stay 17 forever, The Raveonettes will make you feel like swaying piss-ass-drunk through a David Lynch film. Simply put, this band is cool. Check ‘em out at theraveonettes.com or crunchy.dk for more info.
