What is Ladytron? It’s kinda like the Eurythmics meet Kraftwerk meets the end credits of Ninja Gaiden. No, no! Wait! It’s like playing this really cool MMFF (male, male, female, female) rock band through your scientific calculator (The one with 64 functions and graphing!), thus having them come out the other side as these total cyber-punk machine heads. from-- oh, never mind! Like I was saying, Ladytron is a synthesizer / female vocalist / mechanical music-enthusiast’s wet dream. What they put forth is bouncy dance floor ethics, hardwired into the atmospheric undertow of their willing embrace with technology. And, even with all the machinery, Ladytron’s product oozes over with simplicity. They’re the evolution of club techno and ‘80s robo-cult, with an obvious appreciation of the musicians before them, and a true love for the sound that they make. You can hear that sound for yourself in person on February 27th when this Liverpool foursome plugs in at the The Wexner Center For The Arts’ Performance Space in Columbus. For more info, go to wexarts.org and ladytron.com.
