Drummer Wanted, a \"personal injury lawsuit musical\", comes to The Wexner Center this month from the 20th through the 23rd. This marks the third visit from Richard Maxwell and the New York City players.
Maxwell (writer/director) offers up a two-actor tale of a mother and her son. The son (played by Pete Simpson of The Blue Man Group) is an aspiring drummer,.. that still lives at home with his mother. And the mother (played by Ellen LaCompte) is there to support her struggling son,.. sort of. And it is all peppered with funny ballads. Yes. I said \"ballads\".
Now, I know what you\'re thinking: \"Wayne, a musical?!? Didn\'t you read Frank\'s Letters from a Putz this month?\" And yes, I did. But that doesn\'t mean anything. There are good musicals out there. Just ask Debbie. \"When you\'re a Jet, you\'re a Jet,...\"
Besides, it will be a nice break from the rest of the mind-numbing shit I see on a daily basis: reality television, news, and Buckeye coverage. Yawn.
So if you\'re interested in doing something else with one of your nights between February 20th and the 23rd, check out Drummer Wanted.
I\'ll be there. And no, that says nothing about me personally.
