Stephen Lynch does what Adam Sandler wishes he could do. He writes funny songs. His latest disc, Superhero, is a live album that showcases his folk/funny tunes. The inclusion of improv and audience reactions make this album better than his previous release, A Little Bit Special, which got bogged down by lame bits between songs. Superhero is much more cohesive, featuring all-new, tighter material. He gets to the joke quickly, and gets out before it gets stupid (SNL cast, pay attention). If you listened to Opie and Anthony before the fascists took them off the air, you probably heard Lynch\'s song “Priest”, which he revisits here. It’s an ode to little boys sung by a Catholic priest. If you heard it, you already know what Stephen\'s songs are like. Here\'s an example of some lyrics from the new song “Mother\'s Day”: Thank you, dear lady, for being my mom / You did all my homework, you took me to prom / And I was the only guy who got lucky that night,... You get the idea. He takes on fat girls, unwanted pregnancies, Dungeons and Dragons, and Billy Corgan. With most comedy albums you probably play them about a dozen times for your friends and then forget about them. But Superhero showcases Stephen Lynch\'s live show. He has genuine songwriting abilities, a wicked sense of humor, and a great voice that you won\'t forget.
