God save the Queen. And I don’t mean the Queen of England. Hopefully, you will read this article before 8pm on Saturday, February 2nd. If you are reading this article after that time, you are shit out of luck. If you happened upon it before that time, you still have a chance to catch one of the most interesting tribute shows of the year. On February 2nd, at Little Brothers, 10 local and regional bands will take to the stage to help benefit a worthy cause. “Queen-a-thon” (as it is being called) is not only a tribute to the late, great Freddie Mercury and the music of the band he fronted (Queen), but it is also a benefit that will donate 100% of its proceeds to two local organizations: the Ohio AIDS Coalition and the Columbus’ Meals On Wheels program. What can you expect? Why, covers of Queen classics like “Another One Bites The Dust”, “Bohemian Rhapsody”, and a tune they stole from Vanilla Ice, “Under Pressure”. And who will be playing, you ask? Well none other than locals like Fenster, Anna Paolucci & The Vague, Johnson Brothers, and headliners the Trashbrats, just to name a few. Tickets are only a measly $5. Only got $4? No problem. The kind people at Little Brothers are offering a $1 discount to anyone dressing up "in drag" or as any character from Queen's videos or movies. (Are you listening, debbie?) So, get out there and have a drink, put on a wig, shake your ass, and help support a great cause.
