Having never seen a burlesque show-- all that we were familiar with was that ancient style of striptease you’d see in Warner Bros. cartoons-- we weren’t quite sure what to expect when we showed up at The Double Door. After all, this is the 21st Century. And The Suicide Girls are a badass bunch of hot chicks from the Internet, with tattoos, hair dye, and piercings. How would this play into our stereotyped image of parasols, coyly peeled-off gloves, and breasts covered with hand fans?
The show was hot! (So was the venue.) In addition to the beautiful, nearly-naked (pasties and g-strings) honeys, the show offered a lot in the way of entertainment. Each set lasted the length of one song. The tunes ranged from that oldie \"Lollipop\", to themes from classic movie moments, to Marilyn Manson. Standout moments include re-creations of scenes from Goldfinger, The Graduate, and the infamous ear slice from Reservoir Dogs... only, topless.
One of the more impressive moments was a solo act where a girl with a Hula-Hoop danced to the remixed version of Elvis\' \"A Little Less Conversation\". During AC/DC’s \"You Shook Me All Night Long\", one of the girls shotgunned beer and spat it into the crowd. And for a finale, all the girls came out and squirted chocolate syrup all over their bodies to the tune of Chef’s \"Chocolate Salty Balls\" from South Park.
At the end of the night, we had seen a gorgeous blend of the conventional and unconventional. If you’re out to stuff some bucks into a girl\'s panties and get grinded on to God-awful pop music, head to a strip club. If you want a kick-ass show from girls you don’t normally see in this type of display, catch The Suicide Girls when they roll through your town.
