TRUE STORIES OF HEROES' BRAVE BATTLES
BRAVE SOUL OF NOVEMBER 2001: CAP'N BOOTY

This month we talk with our very own cap'n booty about a Thanksgiving he'll never forget.
darby: I must say I was surprised to hear you had a feat to share with us.
cap’n: I couldn’t stay quiet any longer. I need to tell my story.
d: By all means, cap’n.
c: Last Thanksgiving I wasn’t able to go home for the holidays, so I wanted to find someone to spend Thanksgiving with. One of the guys here at the office said he and his girlfriend would be more than happy to have me.
d: I’m failing to see the feat or the bravery in this tale, cap’n.
c: I’m getting to that part. I went to dinner ready for a big fat turkey with stuffing. Little did I know, turkey wasn’t on the menu.
d: They had ham?
c: I wish! No, darby, it wasn’t ham. The meal prepared had “turkey” in the title, right before the word “loaf”.
d: “Turkey loaf”? Is there such a thing?
c: Oh, take my word for it, there is. The guy’s girlfriend brings in a tin tray with some kind of loaf in it.
d: That can’t be good.
c: She puts the tray on the table and starts to slice the loaf. Then she asks me whether I’d like white or dark meat. I replied, “Meat.”
d: What did it taste like?
c: Chicken.
d: Really?
c: No. It was like turkey-flavored Spam.
d: Which, the dark or the white meat?
c: Both.
d: Dear God, how did you ever survive?
c: Well, luckily I had a turkey back at my house. I put in some quality time with the couple, and then hightailed it back to my place to cook a real bird.
d: What are you doing this year?
c: Going back for seconds.
d: You are brave.
