There's a scene in the movie Animal House where the sensitive guy is on the stairs at a party, strumming his guitar and singing "I Gave My Love a Cherry" to a couple of hot sorority babes. All of a sudden, Blutarski (John Belushi) comes up to him, grabs the guitar, and smashes it against the wall into a million sensitive little pieces. Now, if roles were reversed, and Blutarski were given the guitar, what song would he play? How about "'p' is for: pig, prutality, pand pabuse pof power", a nice little here's-what-I-think-is-wrong-with-authority number. Never heard of it? It's one of 15 songs on John Plastic's album, Preach, Bitch & Argue-- the album Blutarski would've made. Preach, Bitch & Argue is either folk music that will make your nose bleed, or what happens to punk rock when the cops come to the party and cut the power. John Plastic takes to the acoustic guitar as violently as Johnny Ramone used to take to his Mosrite, bludgeoning the strings until the chords came out. Plastic's whiskey-coated vocals yell about all you would expect whiskey-coated vocals to yell about-- everything from what's wrong with the world to what's wrong with the bar tab. And aside from the obvious low-budget production value discrepancies, it's a pretty solid first effort. To get a hold of Preach, Bitch & Argue, write him at: 423 Oak St. Apt.
