Just when you thought Pixar had done it all, they break down yet another wall in computer graphics with their newest film, Monsters, Inc. What wall? Hair. That's right, hair. Not only does the hair on Sulley look real, but it puts the hair in Final Fantasy to shame. There is a scene where Sulley gets hit with a snowball, and the pieces of snow stay in and move with the individual hairs on his body. Wow! Since they started back in 1994, Pixar has explored the world of toys, bugs, and now, monsters. In the monster world, their energy is made-up from the screams of children. They're also going through an energy crisis due to the fact that children don't scare so easily anymore. But what scares a monster? Kids! They believe a child's touch to be toxic. Isn't that true? I always thought kids were toxic. Anyway, their monster world is turned upside-down when a three-year-old girl finds herself on the other side of the closet, and now she is the monster. Monsters, Inc. is sure to be a big hit. And how can it not be with everybody's favorite, Steve Buscemi, doing the voice of Randall, the monster with a hidden agenda. I think it's going to be a real close race between Harry Potter and Monsters, Inc. in November. It's going to be fun to see who comes out on top. And, just so the adults don't get bored, Monsters, Inc. is full of inside jokes for them to enjoy, too.
