A FRANK ZAPPA TRIBUTE: Did you wake up this morning with a hankering for some good live music and a free prostate exam? That's weird. Of course, if you woke up this morning with a hankering to pay tribute to late interplanetary musical legend Frank Zappa via some good live music and a free prostate exam, that's perfectly normal. So normal, in fact, that it's gonna' happen for the second year in a row. Get your loose booty on down to Oldfield's on High, Saturday November 10 for "Do Your Balls Hang Low?: A Frank Zappa Tribute, Part 2". It's a benefit to increase awareness of prostate cancer, which took Zappa's life in December of 1993. Join hostess Nikki Wonder as she heads up a motley musical line-up including Shtick, The G-Spot Tornadoes, Bob Sauls, The Lollipop Factory, Big Ass Yard Sale, Nightrunners, John Zuck, and the Mendelsonics, with members of Templeton and Jack Neat. That's tons of bands, and prostate exams! Plus, all proceeds will benefit the Columbus Cancer Clinic. And it's all in the name of the late, great Frank.
THE NATIONAL: Sgt. Huntry sent me a telegram the other day, just to give you kids a heads up. His boys from The National will be bringing their New York rock to Little Bros. on Monday Nov. 12th. The show starts at 8pm, with local act The Sportsmen Club opening, and touring support The Elks filling the middle. Tickets will run you a mere $5 in advance, and a measly $7 at the door. If you've never heard ‘em, then see 'em, cause everyone knows that live shows are where it's at.
