What that probably now-fired writer meant to say was, \"HOLY FUCKING SHIT! It’s like Country Music walked across the bar, bought Rock \'N\' Roll a drink, then spent the rest of the night doing a whole lot of hardcore fucking in the backseat of the General Lee.\" That\'s what Two Cow Garage sounds like.
Of course they have \"passion, passion, passion....\" They’re playing aggressively countrified rock \'n\' roll. Imagine if Social Distortion re-recorded Somewhere Between Heaven And Hell without all the studio polish; Motörhead recorded an album of Hank Williams, Sr. covers; or Wilco grew balls, stopped trying to be so \"out there\", and played a little more of that Tupelo-era country they did so well. You’d have the sound pretty much summed up in a nutshell.
The Wall Against Our Back is 13 well-crafted songs that appeal to every hillbilly bone in my body, without neglecting the punk rock marrow inside \'em. The album kicks off with \"My Concern\", which is tougher than anything on modern country radio will ever be. Three minutes later, they slam on the gas pedal for \"Make It Out Alive\", which’ll grab your ass right out of your seat and have you singing along with the good ol\' boy backing vocals. And don’t let all that piss and vinegar fool you into thinking they can’t tug your small-town-born heartstrings. \"Brand New July\" will prove that, even with as gruff a voice as he has, Micah Schnabel knows that the key to winning any listener over is to make ‘em feel something.
Two Cow Garage won my ugly little heart over. And while I can’t guarantee everyone will love ‘em, I can guarantee they at least deserve a shot at winning you over, too.
