In this modern world of ours it is astonishing to realize that depression is still the number one cause of sadness. Often times the warning signs of depression are overlooked and people do not receive the help they deserve. Some of the signs can include despondency, loss of appetite, loss of motivation and excessive sleeping patterns. If you know of a friend or loved one who displays these types of symptoms, do not hesitate to reach out to them. Below are the three most effective ways of dealing with depression:
1. Depression is an actual sickness caused by chemical imbalances in the brain. Encourage the person to restore their body with precious chemicals. Alcohol is an excellent chemical and can often lift one's spirits in a few short minutes. Tobacco should also not be overlooked as a super source of alpha-happiness. Ever notice people at 12-step programs? They are never without their precious supply of tobacco. This is why.
2. Exercise maintains the bodies metabolism and encourages an over all sense of well-being. Suggest the person go for long, invigorating walks. Suggest that your friend walk around downtown at 4am. Often times they will encounter others with similar problems and can engage in some jolly banter.
