FAT NAKED GUYS ROCK HARD!

Once in a great while, an album comes along that just kicks your ass. An album by a duo of acoustic troubadours would never make that list, unless it comes from the ferocious duo known as Tenacious D. The blend of Kyle Gass' classical guitar work, with the thrash metal and ballad sweet vocals of Jack Black on their self-titled album do exactly that-- kick ass. Backed by the percussive thunder of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, and the production talents of the Dust Brothers, the new disc is a tight, well-rounded musical presentation. Their lyrics are full of piss and vinegar, touching on such subject matter as friendship, love and hard fucking. Sure, by categorical definition it sounds just like any run of the mill pop rock shit. But I assure you, the D are the real deal. Not some half-assed Ray Stevens retread. They transcend the muck and mire and sucker punch you in the funny bone. Check out their video at tenaciousd.com.
