Three things have always completely consumed my life: Faygo cherry soda, boobies and, of course, Star Wars. Earlier this month, the original Smithsonian exhibit that wooed people in Washington, DC five years ago landed in Toledo, Ohio at the esteemed Toledo Museum of Art. Let all the people of middle America rejoice! And boy, what a show it is. Not only did I get to see such memorable characters as Chewbacca, Yoda and Darth Vader, but I also got to touch certified Lucas Plexiglass that surrounded each artifact! I think it was all from The Empire Strikes Back, but I'm not really sure. It wasn't all fun and games, though. The exhibition taught a valuable lesson: In a society that has no true mythology of its own (unless you count Christianity), these tireless movies have filled the void. Yes, a truly timeless and solemn lesson. Oh yeah, I also got to see Princess Leia's revealing slave outfit from Return of the Jedi! It was unfortunate that there wasn't a 1981-era Carrie Fisher to sport the outfit, though. Thank goodness I am blessed with a vivid imagination. Even now the thought of young Miss Fisher courses boldly through my mind. The mere thought of her stark white, virginal skin pressed against the molted, slimey, seeping flesh of that villainous intergalactic gangster Jabba the Hutt sends shivers of ecstacy down my spine! Ooooh! Mmmm! Right there! Uh,..yeah, and the rest of the exhibit was good, too. You too can see this exhibition from now until January 5, 2002. Admission is $10 for Adults and $7.50 for students and seniors.
