CDS:
MILES DAVIS - COOL & COLLECTED (Sony)
Oh come on, it\'s Miles Davis. I can\'t say it any better than the back of the CD already does: \"Cool & Collected is the most essential music from the most essential musician.\"
RATING: FIVE STARS
EXIT CLOV - RESPOND RESPOND (Livewire Recordings)
I don\'t usually like the girl/rock combo but these ladies have a nice sweet sound. Perhaps it\'s the unexpected mix of snotty rock-n-roll sounds with dignified strings, but somehow the voices are saccharine yet not nauseating. When i listen to Respond Respond the first image that comes to mind is a woodland group of opossums and squirrels with long eyelashes and mohawks.
RATING: FOUR STARS
PHONOGRAPH - PHONOGRAPH (Arclight Records)
Imagine if Bob Dylan and Tom Petty went on a musical venture together and had a little baby album. Wait, that was the Traveling Wilburys. Well forget about the latter and just think about how an album would sound if it were equal parts Dylan and Petty, and there you have Phonograph.
