ARRICA ROSE AND THE ...\'S – LAST NIGHT ON EARTH (Pop Rock Records)
Rose is an eclectic singer/songwriter who sings nice fuzzy songs.  She has a lot of coutry and folk-like flair to her mellow rock songs.
RATING:  FOUR STARS

CAT-A-TAC – PAST LIES AND FORMAL LIVES (Needlepoint Records)
Cat-A-Tac is a nice mellow indie rock band.  I am not sure about the lyrics, however.  They kinda make me cringe because they are so obvious.  Overall, though, a good album.
RATING:  FOUR STARS

DRIFTEFFECT – BE SOMETHING (Salt Line Records)
Drifteffect is on par with such bands as Audioslave, Soundgarden, and the Deftones.  If you like said bands you’ll probably enjoy this band too.  The soulful songs are not overbearing and well put together.
RATING:  FOUR STARS

EVERYBODY ELSE – EVERYBODY ELSE (The Militia Group)
Everybody Else is happy-go-lucky power pop rock.  The songs are kind of catchy, but I can\'t think of anyone else who would really love this, with the exception for middle-aged suburban types who can\'t stand anything \"weird\".
RATING: THREE STARS

FEATURE PRESENTATION – LIMITED EDITION (One Iron Records)
Are you tired of boy bands with guitars, me too.  Besides lack of originality, this band seems to sample too many genres on one album as well. Maybe it’s because they’re not good at any of them.
RATING:  ONE STAR

GRUFF RHYS - CANDYLION (Rough Trade Records)
This is Gruff Rhys’s (Super Furry Animal\'s lead) second solo album.  It has the quality eccentric sounds you would expect from this guy.  This album is imaginative and enjoyable.
RATING: FIVE STARS

HOT CROSS - RISK REVIVAL (Equal Vision Records)
This album is pretty straight forward hardcore punk.  I am kind of intrigued by its sloppy sound combined with the fact that it’s actually put together well (in its own way).

RATING: FOUR STARS

I AM THE PILOT – CRASHING INTO CONSCIOUSNESS (Broken English Records)
Whiny boy bands with guitars. Lack of originality. Blah. Blah. Blah.  You get the picture.
RATING: ONE STAR

LOVEDRUG – EVERYTHING STARTS WHERE IT ENDS (The Militia Group)
This is in the same vein as an any other average popular indie rock (popular indie rock, doesn\'t that just defeat the whole purpose!).  The songs are well polished, but I didn\'t hear anything that really sticks out.
RATING:  THREE STARS

NEW YEARS DAY - MY DEAR
Avril Lavigne already exists, and we don\'t need another one of her. But nice try.
RATING: TWO STARS

DVDS:

LE PETIT LIEUTENANT (Why Not Productions) (Koch Lorber Films LP)
This film is typical of most cop movies.  A young rookie cop joins a plainclothes crime unit in Paris and forms a friendship with a veteran policewoman until an investigation turns violent.
RATING:  THREE STARS

VIOLETTE (Cinevideo) (Koch Lorber Films LP)
This beautifully filmed true based story takes place in Paris and is about a young middle class girl living a double life as a prostitute in the Latin Quarter of Paris.  This lifestyle leads to her to do a horrific crime.
RATING: FIVE STARS
