THE WEXNER OFFERS TWO TOP-SHELF ACTS FOR JANUARY
The Wexner Center isn’t wasting anytime getting into the swing of things with the new year. January is packed with new and exciting performances. Two in particular are headlining the month. Britain’s Improbable Theatre returns to the Wexner Center with their latest work, SPIRIT, a small stage theatre production about three fairytale brothers sent to war. Following their huge success Shockheaded Peter, SPIRIT has some very big shoes to fill. But that shouldn’t prove to be a problem for the troupe. Stunning visuals and improv make SPIRIT one not to be missed. Five performances of SPIRIT will run from January 11th thru January 14th.
On January 19th the tune changes at the Wexner,.. literally. Playing Weigel Hall on that night will be the Grammy-nominated jazz ensemble known as the Mingus Big Band. The show, titled Blues & Politics, will feature the works of legendary jazz composer/bassist Charles Mingus. Organized and overseen by Sue Mingus, Charles’ widow, the band holds true to the blues influenced jazz stylings of the musical master. Thanks to the Wexner Center, Columbus is a stop on their map.
So be sure to check out these alternative, entertaining options. If it means skipping a few crappy movies, so be it. You can’t rent these performances on video once they’re gone.
