COMING TO TERMS

Halloween is probably my most favorite holiday. I love everything about it. And I love the idea of getting dressed up for a day and pretending to be something you're not. I love costumes, and I'm always looking for a way to come up with the one costume that will blow away everyone else's.
A few years back, my Spider-Man costume was far outdone by two friends of mine who had dressed up as "Skinny Elvis" and "Fat Elvis." Everyone giggled with glee as both Elvises sang creepy Halloween tunes and passed out candy to bright-eyed children. Anytime a passerby would comment on their outstanding costumes, the two would simultaneously respond in Elvis-style, "Thank you. Thank you very much." Not a single person even noticed that I had taken the time to turn otherwise ordinary sweatpants into the best superhero outfit ever made. I decided then that I would not be outdone again. The following year, my friends were shocked when I showed up at Halloween parties in my regular clothes.
"Who are you supposed to be?" they'd ask.
"I'm Skinny Travis."
