The Polyphonic Spree (TPS) on disc sounds like Roger Water\'s-era Pink Floyd in a bus wreck with Sgt. Pepper\'s-era Beatles. A self-proclaimed \"choral symphonic pop band\", TPS weaves sprawling landscapes of voices with psychedelic swirls of French horn and guitar. The reality of the band is far more terrifying: TPS is a group of 23+ band/cult members who all dress in long white robes, don\'t title their songs, and are released by Good Records (\"a division of the Good Umbrella\", whatever that is). Former Tripping Daisy frontman, Tim DeLaughter, (who is credited with \"arm waving\" in the liner notes) presides over TPS like a musical David Koresh. The press photos show them standing together releasing balloons into the air, smiling on a hilltop, and standing in the woods like a bad 1970\'s John Denver album cover. There is such a positive feeling to the music that it genuinely creeps me the fuck out! I imagine myself trapped in an old revival church with these bastards overflowing the stage, asking me to drink the \"Kool-Aid\". Like the aunt who was \"born again\" and can\'t blink or stop grinning at you from across the dinner table, this band will scare you! The music is compelling and trippy, but I can\'t say that you should own the disc. I can\'t take that responsibility. I honestly don\'t know what it would do to you. I think this band is dangerous! I swear I\'m hearing subliminal messages! Where did this tambourine come from? Whose voice is that? One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us. One of us.
