What do you get when you cross Bucky O\'Hare and Alien: Resurrection with an after-school special about steroids? You\'ll either end up with a sore scrotum, or Bizobo The Chimp, the latest release from No Name Press (NNP). The storyline follows Bizobo, a genetically enhanced bonobo monkey, who\'s been swept up into some bullshit war to prevent the spreading of weapons of mass destruction around the world. Oh, wait. That\'s the other comic I was reading, called USA Today.
In this installment, \"Death By Primate\", Bizobo finds himself in heated combat with the ruthless Cuveli (who look a lot like the bad guys at the end of Contra on the old Nintendo. Am I alone on that one?). Anyway, Bizobo and his lumpy, sleeveless friend, Heigeil, must fight their way through hordes of tentacled, toothy Cuveli, in order to save princess,.. uh, I guess her name is just “Princess”. Even though the storyline is pretty standard for a sci-fi bestiality comic, the sharp wit of the dialogue keeps you turning the page. Plus, the art on this book is nothing short of fantastic. The simple line work and use of multimedia shading reveal a definite influence by the works of Bill Sienkiewicz, Kent Williams, and such. I think some of the quality in the gray tones is lost in the reproduction process. Still, picky shit aside, this is a great effort on a self-published book. Especially considering that it\'s by some little kids who are making their own comics while all the other kids are back at the tree house watching Dragonball Z and thumbing their pee-holes. Kids like these are the ones who grow up to be the Stan Lees and Jack Kirbys of the future.
