KMFDM - WWIII

WWIII is the latest release by Kein Mehrheit Furh Die Mitleid, and it is really one of their best discs. The raw aggression that flies from the speakers on the first track alone speaks volumes about KMFDM’s tighter, refocused sound. WWIII is a politically-charged assault on the Bush Administration and our global greed. Not since the Reagan era can I recall so many artists raging against a common enemy.
There is a new maturity that has evolved in the last few years within KMFDM. Gone is the needless repetition of their name, and the sometimes overindulgent guitar riffs. Everything now seems to serve a purpose. Everyone in the band is honed and armed for the kill. Lucia Cifarelli’s presence is especially powerful on this disc. Whether it is hissing threats, soaring melodies, or bloodcurdling screams, her voice is one of the reasons that WWIII works so well.
If you have been confused about the direction that KMFDM has taken in the past few years, then this disc will probably do little to change your mind about their old albums being the best. But for the rest of us who can appreciate a band that is never satisfied with staying the same, you can’t do much better than WWIII.
