DAYTON, OH - For the past three weeks, Victor Muldoon, 35, has been living in his neighborhood Value-Mart.
The Minneapolis-based chain has long been known for its commitment to customer service through each of its 63 stores. It is not known, however, as a friendly place for vagrants to live.
"We have a complete selection of food and personal sundries, as well as ten other departments, much like a department store would have," said local store manager, Russ Harvey. "And even though we are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, we do expect our customers to return to their homes once their purchases have been made. Our company slogan of 'Come Join Our Family' is just that: a slogan. We really don’t mean it literally."
Apparently, Muldoon had been casually pulling canned goods from aisle nine, and sleeping in a tent that has been set up for display in the sporting goods department. As for recreation, Muldoon spent his days in the electronics department, watching television or reading magazines near the checkout lines.
Little is known about the reasons Muldoon has chosen this peculiar lifestyle, as he was unavailable for comment.
Officials at Value-Mart have asked that Muldoon continue to do his shopping at Value-Mart, but to refrain from sleeping and bathing there.
