Their tale is as old as time. Actually, it’s as old as the first Bush administration. That’s when America got their first taste of The Casualties' sound. And if you’ve ever been bludgeoned repeatedly in the face by an 800-pound gorilla, then you know what The Casualties' sound is.
Just in time for your post-Valentine’s Day aggressions comes their latest SideOneDummy release, On The Front Line. Consider it a nice little declaration of sonic war.
Actually, imagine standing at your post in front of a firing range, blindfold off. Only, instead of a single shot-- or a series of single shots-- there are 30 people firing assault rifles into your chest. The album kicks off with boot-to-pavement soldier marching, and launches into 13 tracks of pure, paint-peeling, snot-punk rock.
While it may not be the newest, most original thing on Earth, it is exactly what I want to listen to when I’m pissed off, frustrated, or looking for a kick in the ass: the gang’s-all-here group choruses, scratch-throat-hollered lead vocals, and tight and together musicianship. Listen to “Criminal Class”, “Tomorrow Belongs To Us”, and “Brainwashed”, and you’ll see exactly what I mean.
