With so many genres and subgenres of music out there, it seems inevitable that, at frequent points in our lifetime, various genres will blend and blur together. It also seems inevitable that, at some point, a catalyst of some sort would appear to encourage such genre-blurring unions.
Enter STIFLE. Star Time International Fader Label Enterprises (hence, the acronym) is the brand-spanking-new brainchild of Star Time International (home to indie darlings Brendan Benson and the French Kicks), and FADER magazine. As a label, their mission is to cross-pollinate musical worlds, and turn the independent dance world on its ear.
With four singles ready for release, each chock-full of A-list artists and producers, STIFLE ain’t a force to be fucked with.
Look for the following singles in record stores near you:
1. French Kicks - "Close To Modern" (including remixes by Eucho and DJ Smash)
2. The Streets - "Weak Become Heroes" (including remixes by 3 Fans featuring Lisa Shaw, and Royksopp)
3. VHS or Beta - "Solid Gold Remixes" (including remixes by Bob Mould, Iz, and Freaky Chakra)
4. The Ends - "Are You Really From The Ends?" (including remixes by Andrew Edward Brown and Jammer vs. Bigga)
