It’s been a long time since I’ve heard an album and had it be anything more than just listenable. It is fucking hard to find good music on the radio in this day and age. In a world where Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, radio-friendly Metallica, and all the other corporate whores seem to reign supreme, it’s hard to find something that is worth a shit.
Well, for all those out there looking for a great metal album, check out Devil With Cheese. I have no clue what the name means, but, nonetheless, these guys are really impressive no matter how you look at it.
And it’s hard to narrow down exactly who these guys remind me of. Vocally, it reminds me of a combination of Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle), John Bush (Anthrax, Armored Saint), the hyperactive yelling guy from Slipknot, and a little bit of Jonathan Davis (Korn). Musically, these guys actually remind me of few of my favorite bands of all-time: Wrathchild America (later, they changed their name to Souls At Zero), Prong, and Testament. With tight guitar riffs, great vocals (including some sweet harmonies), and a hellacious rhythm section, they're definitely a band to be reckoned with.
