Who\'s Triple Seis? For the uninformed, he was a part of the notorious Terror Squad, alongside good friend Big Pun, among others. But when Big Pun passed four years ago, Seis left Terror Squad and began making a name for himself with cameos on other people’s records. And this summer, with Madd Records behind him, Triple Seis will release his proper solo debut, Time’ll Tell.
For the most part, Time’ll Tell is standard radio fare. The lyrics aren’t terribly memorable, but Triple Seis\' delivery is smooth and precise-- something that comes with having been around for a while. He uses that slick flow to spice up some of the less-interestingly produced cuts on the record.
There are some insanely wicked standouts, though: Rob Maya fixes \"Krazy\" up with some outer space, thick, synth funk; Self Mills spices up \"La Shortie\" with some flutes and Caribbean steel drums; and, naturally, Psycho Les turns in the best track, the Beatnuts & Cuban Link-blessed \"Drinks Up\".
All in all, it’s not a bad debut. Triple Seis could really leave an unforgettable mark if he steers away from the stereotypical, radio-formulaic cuts, and spits more over the standout style work.
