The Muppet Show is one of the most imaginative shows in the history of television. Sadly, however, there have never been action figures that quite lived up to its wonderful characters. Well kids, don't sacrifice any more goats or chickens, because your prayers have been answered thanks to the incredibly talented people at Palisades Toys. In the first of hopefully many series to come, we have Kermit, Piggy, Bunsen and the incorrigible Dr. Teeth.
The character design is completely marvelous. It’s as if Rick Moranis really did build a shrinking machine, and shrunk the original fuzzy "actors" into action figure size. They are just that good. The sculpting is also quite meticulous. Each figure has a different texture to more accurately match the original Muppet. Bunsen has a short, coarse texture, while Piggy has a smooth, more feminine complexion. Sexy! The costume design is what hooked me, though. No black and white picture could truly capture the shear psychedelic beauty that is Dr. Teeth. The colors, man, the colors! From his feather vest to his cosmic cummerbund, the paint is amazingly applied with excellent detail. I really pity the six-year-old Vietnamese child that had to paint this figure! If you are still on the fence, the accessories will really hook you. Miss Piggy actually comes with a mirrored dresser with removable drawer and working mirror. However, nothing beats the good Dr.'s keyboard. Each key is painstakingly sculpted and painted.
After all that is said and done, the best is yet to come: the price-- an inconceivable $7.99! I don't know how they can sell these amazing toys for such a low price without committing several major felonies and crimes against humanity! I don't care if these things are made out of some extraterrestrial material that will slowly corrode my brain and eventually turn me into a brain-devouring psychopath. Just keep them coming! With the large array of wacky characters that The Muppet Show contains, it could keep Palisades Toys busy for the better part of a decade.
