Jimmy Eat World? New Found Glory? That shit’s for the birds. This is where it’s at: Roger Miret & the Disasters. That’s right, Agnostic Front’s hollerin’ hardcore Godfather gathered up some punk rock chums of his for this beauty of a side project, the appropriately named Roger Miret & the Disasters. They play it fast, so please play it loud. Hell-- play it for either of the aforementioned boy bands and watch their little Teen People asses bleed for days! Miret and his gang of musical street toughs do it old skool-- raw and raucous back-alley punk. To be sure, though, you can simply forgo less than three minutes of your day and check out the last tune on the record, “New York Belongs to Me”. Sung loud, sung proud, Roger and a choir of dirty angels stake their claim to our grittiest of cities in all its past and present glory. This isn’t a song. It’s an anthem, complete with hand claps, a gang’s-all-here-type group chorus, and a genuine spirit so powerful, you really can’t argue with them when they say the city’s theirs. I mean, not unless you want the shit severely beaten out of you.
