I got Wexner Center fever, boys and girls. Why? Because their newest exhibition sounds like the kind of thing a weirdo like me could most definitely enjoy. It's called Mood River, and it opens to the public (that's us!) on Sunday, February 3. Judging by what the press releases and promotional materials say, it's gonna be a pretty eclectic display of just how omnipresent artists and designers truly are. Everyday objects from athletic shoes to car taillights to toothbrushes will be on display, right alongside artworks by respected famous people like Issey Miyake, John Chamberlain, and Frank Stella. Plus, there's gonna be a skate basin open free to all boarders (with demos by professionals!), an eventual garment exhibition, and something called Paint-ball Robot, later in April. The message behind this unique display of artistic gumbo-jumbo? To illustrate just how related all forms of art and design are, and how they make today the today we know it to be. It's definitely the kind of exhibition you have to visit more than once. There's a special members-only opening bash on Saturday, February 2. Otherwise, Mood River will be living at the Wexner Center from February 3 thru May 26, with a number of symposiums, artist lectures, and gallery talks occurring throughout the run.
