It would be a massive understatement to say that some things need to change for the better in this country. Why is everything so messed up? It’s exhausting to try and point the blame at every responsible party, but it doesn’t help matters that the mainstream media clouds over these public figures and their impactful foul-ups.
Like I massively understated at the beginning of this tirade: some things need to change for the better. Fortunately for all of us, the revolutionary, outspoken spirit of the Guthrie/Dylan-era 1960s has never been as noticeably present as now.
So it makes perfect sense that a relatively similar Guthrie/Dylan musical approach would take to this country, touring to raise awareness on current media reform and trade issues. Musicians/activists Billy Bragg, Tom Morello (touring as The Nightwatchman), Steve Earle, Lester Chambers and a bevy of others are traveling this hungry-for-change nation with the Tell Us The Truth Tour.
Running November 7 to November 24, the 13-date tour intends to challenge corporate domination of the public discourse with support from a number of organizations riding on the same wavelength, including the AFL-CIO, Rock The Vote, and the Future of Music Coalition, among others. The artists “will work in coalition with activists, academics, and elected officials to generate policies and strategies that will structurally improve the American media system.”
