Let’s say you really like steak. One day, you go to a restaurant, and eat what turns out to be the best steak you’ve ever had. From that point on, whenever you eat steak, you’ll compare it to that one, perfect steak. You’ll become very picky about the steak you eat. You won’t just settle for any old steak. It has to be damn good, if not better than the best.
Why the unnecessarily long metaphor? Because I want you to check out The Stingers ATX's This Good Thing. It’s some damn good steak, so to speak.
These fabulous Texans play music that is near and dear to my heart-- ska, rocksteady, and reggae. Add hints of rhythm and blues and a little bit of soul, and you get what their 19-tracks give you.
Just dig how easily songs like “Miss Melodrama”, “In the End”, and “Stop Thinking” get stuck in your head. The tight, catchy rhythms; the soulful vocals; the horn section comprised entirely of one man and his trombone. That’s This Good Thing.
While ska bands may be a dime a dozen, good ones are really fucking hard to come by. And, genre aside, The Stingers ATX is just a damn good band.
CHECK 'EM OUT HERE.
THEN READ OUR INTERVIEW WITH THEM.
