Time to update your party playlist, boys and girls. Place this somewhere between James Brown and Toots & The Maytals, because that’s where it belongs. Just like the aforementioned legends, The Aggrolites play party music with a message. But they’re content with not beating it into you. So long as you shake your ass, their job is done.
Dirty Reggae is 14 songs of ammunition for your ghetto blaster. Bouncing from straight up party tune (“Pop the Trunk”, “The Stampede”) to socially conscious storytelling (“Jimmy Jack”, “Joe Grind”), The Aggrolites spit some of the funnest, grittiest, most infectious music I’ve heard in a long time. And when they aren’t tearing it up instrumentally (with the heart and soul of the music’s originators), lead guitarist/vocalist Jesse Wagner fires up the microphone with an equally gritty, hella-soulful growl.
Break out the biggest speakers you own, invite a few hundred friends over, and play it louder than the cops will allow. You don’t gotta love reggae to love The Aggrolites. Dirty Reggae is music for the party, the dance floor, and the people.
