LE CONCORDE - LE CONCORDE

I have a love for the simple sounds of pop music. Not Christina Aguilera or some American Idol generic, mannequin shit, but real pop rock. You know, Beatles-inspired stuff that often sounds vaguely New Wave, Eighties, etc. Some guitars, drums, and sing-along choruses.
Which brings me to Le Concorde\'s self-titled EP. This is easily one of the most \"poppy\" new albums I\'ve heard in a long time. It\'s straight out of the Eighties, with a pop/New Wave/alt-rock sound. (How many lame labels can I string together? Christ on a bike!)
The first couple of songs got me with great, mid-tempo, fun guitar pop rockin\' and decently clever lyrics. The only snag is singer/songwriter Stephen Becker\'s exceedingly sweet and oh-so-sensitive voice.
However, after those first two songs, I kind of lost interest. But the main reason I won\'t recommend this CD is because Le Concorde takes the Eighties vibe way too far with the inconceivable use of a lite rock sounding saxophone! That\'s way past where I draw the line.
So, even as a pop rock/emo-ish/sensitive music fan, this album is a little too pretty and precious for me. But I know my kind, and there are many out there who would eat up this sugary sweet pop candy.
