FREAK FILMS: GINGER SNAPS: UNLEASHED

Many of you regular Freak Films readers will remember a great flick from a few years back called Ginger Snaps. This low-budget gem was what happens when you combine Heathers and werewolves. What it lacked in budget was more than made up for in creativity and writing.
Well, I\'m very happy to report that sitting on video store shelves at this very instant is the sequel, Ginger Snaps: Unleashed. This time out, it\'s Girl, Interrupted meets werewolves. Brett Sullivan, the editor of the original, has taken over directing chores for the sequel, and he makes every shot look like a million bucks.
We follow Brigitte Fitzgerald (Emily Perkins) into an institutionalized rehab program after she\'s discovered shooting up and cutting herself. What people fail to realize is that she\'s shooting up wolfsbane and cutting herself to figure out how long it will be until she completely \"wolfs out\". Her sister Ginger (Katharine Isabelle) haunts her as it becomes more and more apparent that another werewolf is stalking her. She has no choice but to turn to the few staff members and inmates that she might be able to trust.
The things that made the first Ginger Snaps into an instant classic are here in the sequel: the twisted humor, great characters, and fresh approach. There is a great scene of a room full of teenage girls masturbating that will bring new meaning to the idea of hairy palms. If you loved the original, there is just as much to love in Ginger Snaps: Unleashed. If you missed the first one, it\'s time for a double feature. Enjoy.
