When I lived in Ohio, I heard about this fairly average, kinda mediocre rock band named Watershed. They had one major label record years ago and are still a big draw in Columbus, Ohio. Turns out Milwaukee has their own version of Watershed called The Obsoletes. Their new album title asks, Is This Progress? To which I answer, \"Uh, nope.\"
Does every town have a band like this? Earnest and competent, but fairly bland in their earnest and competency? Not to sound like a completely negative asshole; they are fine at what they do. Just fine. I bet they rock small venues and have a solid fan base. They even give a shout-out to their roots on the track, \"Down To Milwaukee\", in which they sing, \"Goin\' down to Milwaukee!\"
Dangerous band name, though. Lots could be made of calling them out and whatnot. But I have a feeling this kind of harmless, solid rock will never be truly obsolete. Bands all over the country have been churning it out since the beginning of time, and will no doubt continue to do so until the planet’s inevitable destruction.
