I can only speak for women when I say this, but there are times when we just want to put on a sad song and cry, just to cry, even if there isn\'t anything bad happening. Sometimes we just like to do it.
Well, ladies, Elliott Smith\'s new album, From A Basement On The Hill, is perfect for those certain times. Not only will you be sad by the fact that you\'re listening to a dead man singing, but what he\'s singing will make you weep your eyes out.
Almost a year to the day of his suicide, Elliott Smith\'s latest album is released containing 15 tracks of what he was best at: melancholy and pain. The majority of the songs have a very Lennon-esque sound, and a feeling of inner grief with himself and the world.
The entire album has an overall foggy, overcast, and gloomy sound to it that somehow Smith romanticizes, almost making everyone want to think about their lives as a glass half empty.
