Ex Machina: Essentially, dude becomes grafted with some alien/magic device that allows him to telepathically communicate with any and all machines. Dude becomes NYC superhero, but quickly retires figuring he can do more good in other ways. Dude reveals his identity and becomes Mayor of NYC. Series begins at the beginning of his first term.
This book is written by Brian K. Vaughn, who already having earned his props on such titles as Y: The Last Man, Runaways, The Hood, and Ultimate X-Men, is set to blow everyone away in this WildStorm Signature Series book. (Don’t worry, I don’t really know what that means, either.)
The artist on the book is Tony Harris, whom I am most familiar with from his collaborative creation Starman (with James Robinson). That, however, was quite a few years ago. He’s done a number of projects since then, and, let me tell you, this current one will fucking blow you away. I consider Harris to be one of my favorite illustrators.
WildStorm’s parent company, DC Comics (although, ever since Jim Lee caved and started doing work for DC, it seems like WildStorm is the bastard child), probably won’t give Ex Machina the publicity it deserves. It’s up to us, the loyal, to try and promote the shit out of this book so others will discover it, hopefully to avoid it being cancelled before the story really gets to go anywhere.
I hope it works.
