Did that Superman-looking guy just call that ambiguously gay Legend Of Zelda-looking guy \"Gaystation\"? Did that Pokémon-ish character just tell that racist, musical princess he wants to have sex with her decapitated skull? Did that walking, talking pig just take a shit in a cantaloupe?
Yes, yeah, and yup. Don’t worry-- it’s animated. That not only makes it okay, but absolutely hilarious and endearing, as well.
This is the world of Drawn Together-- Comedy Central’s new animated \"reality show\", where eight parodied cartoon stereotypes are placed in one house to live together for all the world to see:
- the meatheaded Superman look-alike (Captain Hero)
- an oblivious racist musical princess (Princess Clara)
- a murderously violent Pokémon parody (Ling-Ling)
- a sassy black chick who’s both easily angered and laid (Foxxy Love)
- a talking Internet cartoon pig who pisses and shits in the weirdest places (Spanky Ham)
- a closet homosexual/Legend of Zelda-ish adventurer (Xandir)
- a self-mutilating, chubby, slutty Betty Boop-ish character (Toot Braunstein)
- and what might as well be SpongeBob’s even more annoying little brother (Wooldoor Sockbat)
At times, Drawn Together possesses a smartness akin to Family Guy or the better Simpsons episodes, and combines it with a crudeness akin to what me and my friends tend to laugh about when drinking. There are jokes about little girls and donkeys, a character floating around the latter half of the first episode in someone else’s fart bubble, and even a moment of social progress that turns into a skewed... man, I don’t even want to tell you.
Just know that creators Dave Jeser and Matt Silverstein have made a cartoon filled with the jokes you think about saying, but don’t have the balls (animated or realistic) to actually share. What could possibly be funnier?
Catch it on Comedy Central, Wednesdays at 10:30 PM/9:30 Central.
