How is it that I\'m writing the preview for Tiger Army’s Dark Romance tour stop in Chicago on April 29th, but my vacationing writer is the one attending the show? Oh... I guess I just answered my own question.
She’s lucky I like her, because Tiger Army puts on one of the best live shows today. I don’t just throw that compliment around. They earned it. Few other bands possess as much stage energy as this tattooed trio. Por ejemplo: Last time I saw them was Warped Tour 2004. It was 200 degrees or something ridiculous. Warped founder Kevin Lyman wanted to keep the fans cool, so he plugged a thousand air conditioners directly into Tiger Army, and cooled the crowd in minutes. That\'s how much energy they bring to the stage.
With them performing headliner duties (showing off their latest-- and in my opinion best-- record to date: III: Ghost Tigers Rise), a few capable openers were in order. Their choices? The incomparable 12 Step Rebels, and kid-tested/mother-approved The Unseen. Yes, you read that right: all three bands, in the same place, on the same stage, on the same night.
If you’re in Chicago on Friday, April 29th, and happen to be near The Metro Smart Bar, do yourself a favor and go! And if you don’t live in Chi-Town, the tour continues through late May, so check Epitaph for more dates.
