AIRLINE: THE COMPLETE FIRST SEASON (A&E)

A&E reality series Airline takes its viewers on a trip to see the everyday situations of the employees and customers of Southwest Airlines. This entertaining DVD set collects 18 episodes from the first season. You\'ll see the airline\'s employees face angry (and sometimes drunk) customers, blackouts, psychotic children, and stricter, post-9/11 security measures. You\'ll also see the excitement and fun that can happen at the airport, like celebrity sightings, Russian performers, non-human passengers (or passengers dressed as non-humans), and assorted freaks. Airline is an interesting and sometimes stressful behind-the-scenes look at what really goes on at the airport.

Know what I love? Murder! Not the act, but more the crime-solving and details behind it all. And much to my pleasure, a brand-new two-disc DVD set has been released by A&E collecting crime tales from their hit-show Cold Case Files. Ten murderous nutcases are featured in this set, including The Zodiac Killer, The Green River Killer, and the Weepy-Voiced Killer. Each segment goes insanely in-depth, showing the viewer exactly how these cases were solved. And at under $20, this set is well-worth the cash.

Lesbian EPA agent teams up with bartender girlfriend to convince local law enforcement that a manufacturer in town is dumping toxic waste into the town\'s aqueduct, thus creating a human-sized frog creature whose goal it is to get his hump on and impregnate every human woman he finds. I\'m not kidding. And did I mention this movie has more boobs in it than the White House?

Three live shows from his last tour reinforce the fact that his wild onstage antics overshadowed less than average punk music. If only he would have done himself in onstage and took his audience with him, like he promised, then we would\'ve had a real DVD to watch.

This DVD documents the electrifying performances of Iggy Pop in the early Eighties. The DVD itself is nothing special. The menu and credits look like they were homemade on old computers, and the special features only include a trailer. Live San Fran 1981 is really for Iggy Pop fans looking for his rarely documented early performances.

Two things I love: wrestling and women. That\'s exactly why I\'m in love with Lipstick & Dynamite, a 90-minute documentary romp through the history of women wrestling. Listen to the tales of The Great Mae Young, The Fabulous Moolah, and Gladys \"Killem\" Gillem, and they\'ll make you think twice about who truly is the stronger of the two sexes. Lipstick & Dynamite is the wrestling-documentary equal of the testosterone-filled Beyond The Mat. Get in line, gents, and bow down to the power of wrestling femmes.

An engaging exhumation of the life (or lack thereof) that inspired the indescribable elder gods that have terrified an audience that grows larger every day. Houellebecq peels back the layers of the only true heir to the Poe crown: H.P. Lovecraft. This long essay starts off with an entertaining introduction by Stephen King, talking about the Lovecraft-inspired story that he never had the guts to put to paper.

Renegade intellectual Noam Chomsky has been driving conventional wisdom home for years now, and this documentary proves his message is spreading. The documentary was made by Will Pascoe and follows Chomsky and his wife, Carol, around the country in support of his best-selling book, 9-11. What it captures is Noam\'s far-from-the-norm thoughts on the war on terrorism, September 11th, and the media\'s manipulation behind it all. If you\'re looking to expand your mind into other possibilities that might not exist on your local evening news, pick this up.

Yeti Brother Hunter Roberts pops his own feature film cherry with what essentially looks like a bunch of friends-- who just so happen to be actors-- having a whole lot of fun on the set... only with lots of fake blood. Kinda like Cabin Fever. Nikitas Menotiades\' Detective Black (equal parts Inspector Clouseau and Mike Hammer) is the Johnny Law in charge of finding out why some Pittsburgh theater employees and students are dying in gruesome, cheer-inducing fashion. Is it a ghost? Is this film low-budget? Does David \"Pappy\" Friday make me laugh every time he’s on screen? Rent-- NO!-- buy Playhouse, and find out.

I\'ve been a huge fan of Chuck and the gang for almost 20 years now. So I was excited when I heard someone was releasing a DVD featuring PE\'s first Euro-UK tour circa 1987. Unfortunately, this sucker looks like it was filmed on a few of those huge-ass shoulder-mounted VHS recorders... probably because it was. The show and the performance is A+ material, but the DVD\'s quality leaves much to be desired. But if you\'re looking to own a slice of hip-hop history and don\'t mind fuzzy audio and video, dig on it.

Listen in wonder as Mix Master Mike fucks shit up on the wheels of steel! Look on in amazement as Z-Trip and the X-ecutioners get the party started with bass in your face! Wonder in awe how The Original Jazzy Jay drops old school knowledge with jaw-dropping clarity and vision! And as if that weren\'t enough, look and learn as Obey Giant creator and visual artist Shepard Fairey rocks the live art stage! Add in a butt-load of extras-- like a \"how to\" guide on wheat pasting and postering with Fairey-- and you\'ve got yourself one of the best music-themed DVDs of the year!

Live performances from two of the greatest jazz legends in the history of the genre: a 1952 dozen-song set from Duke Ellington, and an amazing 1959 televised performance of Miles Davis. The discs aren\'t perfect in their clarity or sound, but they\'ve been remastered about as much as they probably can be. Likewise, the tinny hiss sound that lays behind each track actually adds to it. Seeing as how these are only the first two DVDs in a set of many to come-- including sets from Coltrane, Holiday, and six more-- this is a collection of discs that will warrant owning the full set.

The 3 Marias is a beautifully filmed Brazilian movie about murder, destiny, and revenge. The story begins with a woman leaving a wealthy man she is engaged to for his worst enemy. Some 30 years later, the man and his two henchmen brutally murder the woman\'s husband and two sons. If you\'re like most people, certain images come to mind when the term \"Abu Ghraib\" is muttered: prisoner abuse, torture, and a wide-smiled thumbs-up from the U.S. soldier hovering over it all. But if you\'re interested in learning more about the facts and exactly what happened between October and December of 2003 at the confinement facility, pick up this book. It’s the official government report, outlining all of those events, and, hopefully, showing us how to avoid atrocities like this in the future.
