Strange Angel offers a look into the life of a lonely misfit born into a wealthy family who would grow into the maverick racketeer obsessed with transforming space flight from laughable pulp sci-fi fantasy into reality.
Born October 2nd, 1914, Parsons spent his childhood obsessed with epic tales of space travel. By his early twenties, he was a leader of Caltech\'s \"Suicide Squad\", a group of gifted geniuses who shared a common goal.
By day, he worked feverishly to develop powerful and sustainable liquid fuel engines. But by night, he worked with the same passion to understand the dark secrets of the occult, seeing himself as a grand adventurer on a path of great destiny, like Alexander the Great or the Prophet Mohammed. The wild brilliance that fueled his science was also leading Parsons into the occult.
\"If rocketry could become a reality,\" he thought, \"why not magic?\" As his world\'s collided, his dabbling became his devotion. As fantasy became reality, he lost both his work and his wife-- not to mention his girlfriend, who ran off with L. Ron Hubbard, and eventually his life.
I recommend it for those interested in sci-fi or magic. Or both.
