BE YOUR OWN PET - SUMMER SENSATION EP (Ecstatic Peace! Records)
These children are so young! The press sheet says they were born in 1987 and 1988. Wow! I like this chick\'s screamy-melodic voice. The rest of the band is really good, too. The first song on the EP sucks (I don\'t know why they put it first), but the rest of the disc is really fun.
D.BIDDLE - D.BIDDLE (Sao Bento Music)
This is really arty and folky. A synthesizer, guitar, bass, organ, piano, flute, and clarinet bounce around and off each other, and then head back to the singer\'s voice. This music can be somewhat of a sedative for the mind. It leaves me feeling totally tripped out.
EL AVIADOR DRO - ELECTRICO! THE BEST OF AVIADOR DRO: 1978-2006 (Omega Point Records)
This band has been around for a really long time! They are from Spain and do not sing in English, so I bet that\'s probably why I had never heard of them before. Then again, for a synth-pop band I don\'t think it really matters what they are saying. I liked it.
HIT THE LIGHTS - THIS IS A STICK UP... DON\'T MAKE IT A MURDER (Triple Crown Records)
Yeah, yeah, yeaaah! Whine, whine, whine! Sing, sing, sing about your small life and small band. Then go buy some black hair dye and skintight t-shirts... suckass.
HYMNS - BROTHER/SISTER (Black Land Records)
CAUTION: Popping this CD in your player may make you want to get high and drunk in a room bathed in red light. It makes me happy and uncaring.
MILKY WAYS - MILKY WAYS (Alive Records)
I love the way this is recorded. It just has a real, raw, garage sound to it, which is the way God intended music to be heard. It\'s fast, shake-\'em-up, Sixties-sounding punk. Very scratchy and very rough.
THE FORECAST - IN THE SHADOW OF TWO GUNMEN (Victory Records)
The Forecast is at it again on this new release. The dueling male/female vocals made me fall in love with them all over again. Dare I say that this music is \"cute\"? I will. I think it\'s cute.
TILLY AND THE WALL - BOTTOMS OF BARRELS (Team Love Records)
What are these instruments? Feet? A tap-dancing girl dancing on a wooden square? This kicks ass! Three vocalists with one member playing guitar, one on keyboard, and one \"drummer\" in tap-dancing shoes. This is fun and uplifting music that everyone can appreciate. Let\'s dance!
VANNA - THE SEARCH PARTY NEVER CAME (Epitaph Records)
Hardcore as fuck! Lots of dissonance and screaming... which means I like it. The deeper-voiced singer looks like a goat with a pentagram emblazoned on his forehead.
ZAO - THE FEAR IS WHAT KEEPS US HERE (Ferret Music)
Didn\'t this band used to be Christiany? This album sounds like they teamed up with Marilyn Manson for a duet. Something is weird about the CD\'s inlay art: all of the words are printed backwards, which is most certainly a sign of demonic possession! Zao is Oaz!
