CDS:

THE DETACHMENT KIT - + (self released)

If you haven\'t already caught wind of The Detachment Kit, do yourself a favor and pick this one up.  The band stands as a DIY beacon of hope in the stagnant indie rock reality of the last few years.   Hipsters be warned: this band may cause you to forget who the fuck Les Savy Fav is.

RATING: FIVE STARS

MICK HARVEY - MOTION PICTURE MUSIC \'94-\'05 (Mute Records)
This is a collection of movie music the bad seeds guitarist has scored over the past decade.  While its a great batch of background music, don\'texpect The Birthday Party or Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds to jump out anywhere. Hardcore fans will likely take some interest, but the rest of you (retards) best slide past this one.
RATING: THREE STARS

LOST OCEAN - LOST OCEAN (Credential Recordings)
Ever ask yourself what it would sound like if Muse and Keane turned an emo kid into finger cuffs?  This is the answer.

RATING: TWO STARS

MILLION BILLION - READY. FIRE. AIM. (Mercy Records)
Pop rock for run of the mill college kids with a fondness for Birkenstocks.  Not as cheeky and annoying as The Barenaked Ladies, not as talented and enjoyable as Guster.  Save this one for the popped collars, guys.
RATING: TWO STARS

PAPER AIRPLANES - BOYHOOD (54º 40\' or Fight!)
Midwestern indie pop at the crossroads of The Appleseed Cast and The Flaming Lips.  The album effectively brings me back my boyhood home, the Great Planes, on a starry night.  I know, im gushing like a fat girl for Clay Aiken, but I cant say enough about these guys.
Solid band, great album.
RATING: FIVE STARS

PIEBALD - ACCIDENTAL GENTLEMEN (SIDEONEDUMMY)

If you\'ve heard one Piebald album, it doesn\'t take much to imagine what this one sounds like.  Accidental Gentlemen, the bands fifth album, finds them doing little to expand their audience beyond the dorm-dwelling emo crowd.   With more reheated ideas than a CBS crime drama, only dedicated fans will find something here to love.  The rest of you are advised to move along.

RATING: TWO STARS

TWO GIRLS - DOG WILL BARK (Lisa Falzone Recordings)
Psycadelic stoner blues.  This is THE soundtrack for a drunken night with a haggard stripper.  Sure, some grass and a blacklight would make for a more better time, but you\'ll make it through just fine without.
RATING: FOUR STARS
