THE JOHN POPPER PROJECT FEATURING DJ LOGIC (Relix Records/Image Entertainment)

If you like John Popper ala Blues Traveler you will like this album. This particular disc falls a little more on the (believe it or not) bluesy side than some previous recordings, but overall it\'s Popper at his best--or worst, depending on your opinion of Blues Traveler.

RATING: THREE STARS

THE FINCHES - HUMAN LIKE A HOUSE (Dulc-I-Tone)

This is the first full-length recording for The Finches and it\'s really pretty delightful. There\'s minimal production (from what I can tell), just simple singing, guitar, drums, and maybe some other unassuming things thrown in. Carolyn Pennypacker Riggs\' vocals remind me a lot of singing we\'ve heard from Meg White of the White Stripes--simple, sweet, and hitting the right spot.

RATING: FOUR STARS

BABEL (SOUNDTRACK) - HUMAN LIKE A HOUSE (Concord Records)

This set of two discs is good, really good. A majority of the tracks are instrumentals written by Argentinean musician Gustavo Santaolalla, they are lovely and compelling, good enough to stand on their own without film flickering in front of you. It\'s a very nice piece of work to pop into your player during a long work day.

RATING: FOUR STARS
