DJ BABU - THE BEAT TAPE, VOL. 1  (Nature Sounds)

You\'re a bitch if you don\'t get this.

RATING: FOUR STARS

EMMURE - GOODBYE TO THE GALLOWS (Victory Records)

Jesus. This shit is so hardcore, I think I\'m chafing. Nothing new here-- just your standard loud, fast, growling hardcore metal. I\'ll throw an extra star in there, though, for coming up with a song title like \"A Ticket For The Paralyzer.\" That about sums it up.

RATING: TWO STARS

FOREIGN ISLANDS - RESTART NOW (Deaf, Dumb & Blind Records)

This isn\'t my cup of tea. This will, however, lead to copious amounts of sexy time between you and the special someone. What more do you need to hear?

RATING: THREE STARS

FULTON LIGHTS - FULTON LIGHTS (Android Eats Records)

Sonically, I endorse this album 100%. The wicked dynamic changes, and strange way the sparse instrumentation sounds so thick and dense, makes it as good as any Godspeed! You Black Emperor record. Lyrically, however, it reminds of me of journal entries I\'d hear in Art School creative writing courses.

RATING: THREE STARS

JOAKIM- MONSTERS & SILLY SONGS (Versatile Records)

When you don\'t have cable, you sometimes find yourself watching Channel 18 on a Sunday, wondering where they managed to dig up this bizarre \'80s film you just can\'t convince your eyes to look away from because, while the acting is pretty awful, the soundtrack seems curiously infectious? That\'s this-- a 16-track album of strange instrumental yin, and awesome dancey yang.

RATING: THREE STARS

KING BRITT - DEEP AND SEXY 4 (Wave Music)

Another \"dance music\" compilation. A.K.A., 12 songs that sound exactly the same. Much like the war in Iraq, the reason for this kind of shit escapes me.

RATING: ZERO STARS

THE OLD SOUL- THE OLD SOUL (Friendly Fire Recordings)

If you\'re part of that population of white people who always wished you could find a happy medium between The Ben Folds\' Five\'s first two albums, and the more recent (and experimental) Flaming Lips albums, but maybe have the singing done by Elvis Costello and Jarvis Cocker\'s love baby, congratulations. I just found your favorite band.

RATING: FOUR STARS
