E.M.S. - E.M.S. / DECAL - RELEASE THROUGH VELOCITY
Dual CD review by Night Watchman

Satamile Records just sent us two electronic CDs to review: E.M.S.’s self-titled release, and Decal’s Release Through Velocity. Apparently, both artists are bigtime electro acts, and have been since the early Nineties. To my un-electro ear, they sound about the same. In fact, if you play them back-to-back, it’s like getting a double album. Since they are so similar, I decided I would break them down and review them both at the same time.

E.M.S. – Sounds like video game music. (Some game where you run a lot.)

Decal – Sounds like video game music. (Wizard Of War)

E.M.S. – Oh, the drumbeats sound kind of like "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew.

Decal – Oh, the drumbeats sound kind of like "Me So Horny" by 2 Live Crew.

E.M.S. – This is boring the shit out of me.

Decal – This is boring the shit out of me.

Yeah. Wow... that’s about it. If you dig this kind of stuff, then you’ll probably dig this kind of stuff. But if you like originality or talent or anything approaching listenability, find an electro artist who is interested in pushing the edge instead of regurgitation. Here are a few I would recommend:

- The Future Sounds of London

- Aphex Twin

- Autechre

- Hybrid

- The Crystal Method

- Recoil

- Brian Eno
